He had also fractured his right arm and had difficulty moving due to a long-term injury in his left leg.

He also had a low level of engagement and was suffering from depression.

I understood the need to communicate effectively with the patient in order to understand his needs and then act accordingly.

I spent a lot of time communicating with the patient in informal settings with the goal of building a trusting relationship and strengthening my bond.

I was able to identify the emotional and physical needs of the patient and created an effective care plan.

I made sure that my voice was sympathetic and appropriate.

I also made sure that my speech was clear and coherent.

Mr G thanked and appreciated my assistance, stating that he was enjoying a better life. I also felt satisfied with my professional work.

Communication barriers in care settings can be many, including sensory deprivation or cultural differences, environment issues, language differences, dialect, and emotional difficulties.

These factors can prevent or hinder the ability of the care worker to send, receive, and understand messages.

To provide high quality care services, all caregivers must overcome these obstacles.
