Answer:
Clinical problems are illnesses that are associated with individuals. There are several clinical problems in the world today that require proper healthcare. The most common clinical problem is obesity. It is a situation whereby the body mass index (BMI), a measurement obtained by dividing an individuals’ weight by their height. In simple terms, it is the condition of being grossly fat or overweight. The causes of obesity include; eating too much and moving too little, consuming a lot of fats and sugar and eating large portions of food than the body’s need. It should be noted that parents play a vital role in the eating habits of a child. For instance, if parents consume too much food, the children will most likely follow suit. They are also likely to continue with the behavior even in their adulthood. More than two-thirds are considered overweight in the United States.
In the United States, several sponsors and the government have teamed up to curb this clinical problem. Several solutions have been brought up. The public has been educated on the consequences of being obese. This has ensured that they can watch their eating habits. Furthermore, they can lose weight if they notice that their body mass index (BMI) is abnormal. Dr. Robert F. Kushner also recommended that obese people are given a chance as any other individual. This includes social, political and economic issues (Watkins, & Wulaningsih, 2016). The government has also ensured that doctors are given ample time to give directions to obese people on how to cut weight and also gain self-esteem. Dr .Robert’s recommendation was on 16th of August 2009.
On the 17th of May 2010, the federal government launched several initiatives to combat this problem. It teamed up with media personalities who created websites that have been educating the public up to date. Surgeon Regina Benjamin provided a website to physicians, students, and traders in the community. Michelle Obama, who was the first lady then, led the campaign against childhood obesity. It should be noted that the website she created attracted parents, students and staff members from schools; by providing appropriate subsidies to Carter for healthier foods. If I were to be given an opportunity to curb this clinical problem, I would ensure that I write an email to every Governor of every state. This email will contain details on having social platforms whereby the obese people are called upon to about the problems they face to boost their self-esteem (Daniels, 2007). Secondly, I will create a facebook page or WhatsApp group. The main aim of all this is to educate the obese by sending them videos and journals that demonstrate those who sailed through obesity. The videos will also show the exercises that are required to avoid gaining weight abnormally.
Thirdly, I would ensure that professional counseling is offered to the obese individuals. In the world today, obese cases have been met with criticism from the other population who regard themselves as having the right weight. In school, for instance, obese students are made fun of by classmates. Making fun of an obese student tortures them psychologically. Having counseling sessions in learning institutions will make them feel loved. I would also look for instructors who would engage obese students in exercises. It is a special concern in the world today; that parents are not advised on the proper diet for their children. Health officers should closely monitor eating habits and foods provided to children (Sharma, & Campbell-Scherer, 2017). With this regard, I would ensure that the government passes a bill on the foods to be purchased basing on an individual’s weight. If the bill is assented to be law, chances of obesity will majorly reduce because people will not consume more than what their body requires.
Failure of the health organization to make the above changes will mean that overweight cases will take the time to be done away with. It is no doubt that a citizen has the right to consume whatever they want. However, with the rising cases of obesity, their eating habits should be considered. Exercises should be mandatory for obese individuals and they should engage in challenging tasks and exercises that are hard for people that are overweight. Nevertheless, this does not hinder them from talking a walk or opting to use the staircase for the elevator in story building. In conclusion, to curb any clinical problem in the society, the people in concern should be ready to seek heath experts’ assistance (Daniels, 2007). The government, on the other hand, should have a statistic of obesity cases and monitor the measures in place to combat it. The general population should be well educated to avoid heckling and mocking those who are one way or another having clinical problems.
